Education is empowering. It strengthens individuals, families and communities. FARIAD believes that working to improve the quality and accessibility of basic education is one of the best investments we can make in efforts to overcome poverty. We seek to ensure that the right to education is fulfilled.
FARIAD uses primary and secondary education to change the lives of young people. By 2015, every child around the globe should be able to access primary and secondary education, regardless of their nationality, religion or gender. Since the establishment of the Millennium Development Goals in 2000, the world has seen over 33 million more children enroll in primary school. However, a further 72 million children are still unable to access basic education and thus do not have the chance to learn to read, write or count.
Through our work of supporting quality education, FARIAD empowers community members to improve the standard of local education by supporting and training parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) and School Management Committees (SMCs) bodies; and by providing small grants for communities to run their own school improvement projects
