Fair River International Association for Development (FARIAD) is an indigenous, private, voluntary, non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 1998.

About us

The organization is committed to serving the marginalized and vulnerable, especially women and children, helping them to acquire skills and build capacity for total transformation of their lives.

The organization undertakes a wide range of social and economic development activities such as capacity building and providing training on information and market linkage for farmers through enhanced skill development for economic empowerment, and improved living conditions. All these activities are aimed at alleviating hardship and vulnerability among marginalized and disadvantaged groups.

Since 2002

FARIAD have been providing mobilization, training/capacity building, and technical guidance with good agricultural practices, micro business/micro enterprise start-ups and income generation services, support to local farmers and producer groups and sourcing good markets for the in-country produce.

Fair River International Association for Development (FARIAD) is a member of the Ghana Association of Private Voluntary Organisations in Development.

Registered in 2002

FARIAD was registered in 2002 with the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET) as a Workplace Training Provider, and formally accredited by the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) to provide training in vocational skills.

Mission

FARIAD’s mission is to reduce poverty and contribute to the preservation of natural resources through the implementation of programs, concerning: Agriculture and Food Security; Primary Healthcare; Economic Development; Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET); Quality Education; Good Governance and Human Rights; Environmental Preservation; Science, Technology and Innovation as well as Gender Transformative Change.

Vision statement

To become innovative, accessible and nationally and internationally recognized organisation committed to achieving the expectations of those it serves including children, and to develop a capacity for the total transformation of woman and peasant farmers from economic dependence, deprivation and poverty to economic self-reliance and better financial management of their businesses for more sustainable development and improvement of their lives and that of their families.
